Maximise your Renaults driving pleasure

Renault car tuning tips and advice. We have a wide range of tuning articles covering all models of Renault from small engined family cars to large engine hot hatches and executive cars. Renault sport editions show the way but even humble editions of popular cars can be easily tuned up and prepared for track days. Following our tuning tips you will avoid many of the common mistakes and actually achieve the car setup you desire. Tuning the Renault Laguna

The Renault laguna was a good attempt at creating and affordable and comfortable executive car. It was clearly aimed at a wide audience with a massive array of engine option, even from its launch date.

The best engines for a Laguna Tuning project range from the 2.0T 16valve engine to the super smooth 3.0V6 engines. The former is easier to tune up with a simple remap and sports exhaust and induction kit offering a boost of around 40bhp. The 1.8 and 1.6 engines are fairly dull and do not make good candidates for tuning.

ake is the sort of guy that sees a big engine and buys it and then works out how to fit it to his car. Most people do things the other way round but let’s see if Jakes buy it and see what happens philosophy paid off.

He tells us that he’s pretty much always been into mechanics, “fixing and repairing… I picked up this Astra in August 2004 for a bargain price of £130 tax and tested. It was a 1981 mk1 Astra 1200s, in red (apparently), although in the trade it’s called “shit brick orange”. The car was solid, 32,000 miles on the clock, and 4 previous owners.
