MG car tuning tips and advice. We have a wide range of tuning articles covering all models of MG from small engined family cars to large engine hot hatches and executive cars plus the classic MG’s. Tuning the MG TF

The MGTF is a great little sports car and can be great fun to hoon around a track in. The standard car was nicely set up but with some choice tuning mods the car can be greatly improved. It was aimed squarely at the Mazda MX5 class car and builds on the heritage of the earlier MGB and MBC models. The minor niggles levelled at the MG F mk1 have been ironed out and addressed.

One thing a lot of people complain about is the handling.


Tuning the MG ZR

The ZR is popular among our members for their car tuning projects, based on the tried and tested Rover 200 chassis it forms the basis of a great little hot hatch with lots of tuning options. This could have been the car that saved the Rover group before it’s demise in 2007 but sadly the car came too late and offer little extra other than some pretty classy looks and a great range of engines.

It was one of Britains most popular hatches and the ZR160 headed up the range with a tuned VVC engine and nimble handling.


Tuning the MG ZS

The ZS was based on the Rover 45/400 and took the MG brand to new heights. It is a great project car if you want a track day car, and our members have some interesting projects underway in our forums.

The ZS is a good size and suitable for families but the chassis is quite nimble and provides a fun basis for a performance car with plenty of lift off oversteer!


Tuning the MG ZT

You can do a lot worse than choose the ZT for a tuning project, as it can make quite an effective track day car. The standard ZT from MG was a step up from the Rover 800 and 620 Ti. It was made between 2001 and 2007 so had a relatively short life and it was hoped that this model would help lift the Rover group from its impending demise. Sadly the economic climate saw the Rover collapse but there are a dedicated number of ZT owners out there and plenty of performance parts to choose from.
