BMW Tuning Tips and Modifications

Maximise your BMWs driving pleasure

We have a wide range of tuning articles covering all models of BMW from small engined 1 series family cars to large V8 engined and the super torquey diesels, the Z3 and executive cars such as the 6 and 7 series.

Following our tuning tips you will avoid many of the common mistakes and actually achieve the ideal car setup.

Please join the forum for model specific questions and answers and to meet other owners and see what modifications they have done. The M series has the badge of honour but gives an idea of how much power can be extracted from the average BMW engine.

We are currently one of the fastest growing car tuning clubs around and certainly one of the friendliest

We strongly recommend that you join our BMW forums and swap track day setup ideas with like minded BMW owners in the track day setup forums.

If you have a BMW project underway we would love to hear about it, the Gallery section in the forum contains some interesting projects. Scroll down the page to see our latest tuning articles for your BMW.

Read our tuning guide to the 3 series BMW and avoid the common pitfalls and address the weakspots. The BMW 3 series was first launched in 1975 with the E21, however it was not until 1982 the 3 series became a success with the E30.

In particular the Ultimate Driving Machine really kicked things off in 1985 with the E30 M3 which was produced as a race car for the road.

BMWs naturally have very good suspension, especially thanks to the 50:50 weight distribution found throughout the range.

Badgers 2.0 Vectra Turbo engine swap project.

Meet Torquecars member BAD63R or Badger, his name is really Andy but he’s been called Badger ever since he can remember (due to his surname) and lives in sunny England.

He currently owns a Calibra and a Vectra and has the habit of swapping engines in his cars. We knew that when he said he had got a Vectra and had no plans to modify it it would only be a matter of time before he started with the mods, but we were certainly not expecting a turbo engine transplant!
