Tuning the Ford RS rangeThe RS was last seen in the 80's with the Cosworth and now it makes a big comeback in the 21st Century as ford introduce a new range of high performance scorchers with the RS badge and although good it is possible to improve further and get the car to match your driving abilities. Check out the power tuning tips below.
Your Ford Focus RS and Fiesta RS tuning tips below:The RS represents Ford s power tuning division and cars with the RS badge have been uprated. Ever since the RS Cosworth days we have really liked the RS badge and we are really glad it has been revived for the modern range of Fords. The RS typically have stiffer suspension and have been lowered a little and also receive power upgrades. The modern RS is FWD and uses some very clever diffs to put the power down, with tuning you often experience extra torque steer. There are some notable RS engines out there and we are big fans of the Turbo unit which can with a simple remap yield an extra 30-40% power gain. Ideally on a turbo engine for maximum power gains you will need to have uprated the intercooler, changed the turbo internals or fitted a larger turbo and wastegate. Brake upgrades should be considered and we recommend a big brake conversion kit or at the very least some fast road pads. Be wary of competition pads as these need to be quite warm to be effective and this is not really safe for domestic road use where the pads are cold most of the time. Tyre choice also makes a big difference and we really rate the Eagle F1's, Proxies and sport tyres with directional tread patterns.
