torque cars article on dent pulling

i'm trying to remove a dent on my door - i think caused by a kick

imagine if you kicked hard with the sole of your foot against the right hand end of the door handle. the result is like a crater where one end of the door handle has pushed the panel in.

pulling on the handle has popped out 2/3rds of the problem. the rest is a) against the handle and b) on a panel angle/crease so one of the domestic suction cup things could not get a seal (if they ever work, they wont on this one)

the torque cars article talks about an m shaped dent puller. searching on the web i'm just wading through hundreds of suction cups - anyone give me advice on whether the hot glue and m shape could remove my type of dent, and where/by what name i can get one?

i'll give the hot air/co2 one a go - sounds like fun even if it doesnt work.

thanks

Hi nick, the panels on your car IIRC are pretty thick. I doubt the co2 trick will work, this is best on small panel dents like the ones you get in car parks from other car doors.

The glue M shaped puller is the one you need. There are a few dent repair specialists around who for around £60 will pull out dents using the correct equipment and technique. It is very possible to mess up the panel even more creating 2 or 3 additional creases and dents and this is almost impossible to remove using a puller!

Can you get to the back of the panel from inside the car? If so try just pressing it out with a sharp positive push!

if you want to do it diy and are handy with a bit of paint, then you could always drill a few small holes around the outer of the dent, and screw in a couple screws. not all the way, just enough to get some grip. then pull the screws with pliers until the dent is almost up to surface level. prep, fill, sand and paint. Job Done :)
