The ONLY way to properly port heads is with the use or availability of a flow bench. That way it will show where improvements are made or lost. To take on a job of this magnitude with no knowledge is potentially disasterous and as mentioned previously, can possibly make matters worse.
People spend years learning and perfecting the art of porting and tuning to get it precise and spend thousands of pounds on the equipment to do so.
Now, don't let that put you off doing mild tweeks because some things are blatantly obvious, these show up as bad casting marks or lumps or misalignment to the mating component [manifolds; inlet or exhaust] and/or the gasket.
When reading stuff from forums where home enthusiasts have done similar jobs, be extremely cautious as to what information you digest and which bits to discard to the bin of the useless idiot department.
You'd probably be better off buying the proper books, written by professionals and reading them inside out than reading from people who in reality have as much knowledge as you do to start with.
Good luck and have fun but please be careful.
