please tell me more info about engine conversions as i dont want to buy anything thats going to be a waste of money, i looked at HOND-R they have some great goodies but not much for my d16w4 5dr......was looking at the intake manifold http://www.skunk2.co.uk/product.php...UCTION&level2=INTAKE+MANIFOLD&level3=&id=4259 but i'd like some advice as whats the best mods to do and keep so i'm not buying things then having to replace them as i get more into it if you get my drift?

Here's something I wrote a while ago: http://www.torquecars.com/forums/f19/honda-engine-swaps-4053/

That's the basics covered. Engine wise you could go for the B18C4. That's from the MB6 (same model as yours but dohc vtec). That'll give you 170bhp. An engine is swap is exactly how it sounds, it means your current engine is removed and replaced with a different (usually better) engine. However, as simple as Honda swaps are, it's not quite as simple as just swapping the engine. This is because the brakes and suspension also need upgrading to cope with the extra power.

thanks for the info but i dont really want to rip out the engine as its only just run in at 34000k and i use it daily, its very good reading up about these things though and cheers for sharing your grey matter with me.

i just read up that my engine is this (D16W4 1590 125 SOHC, VTEC Civic 99/02) and is partial to forced induction as i mentioned earlier in this thread but the kits are very pricey.

i hope you dont mind me picking your brains as i will be taking forever tpo do the mods cos im useless lol

Of course I don't mind mate. It's what forums are all about! We all started as a noob at some point.

If it was my car, I would start by getting a set of coilovers, followed by a nice set of 16s. After that I would move onto exhaust, decat and manifold.

thanks again for your help, its booked in for tints all around, obviously front ones are legal limit also a 6 inch tint sun strip thats next month it was the earliest i could get in but hes good and a reasonable price and very local.

i think i'm going to go with coilovers next ive seen buddy club ones from hond-r http://www.hond-r.co.uk/index.php?app=products&event=product&product_id=934 but not completely sure if they'll be the correct ones i'll phone them first before i buy any and ask for some advice...

ive seen some wheels i like too these ones in black http://www.hond-r.co.uk/index.php?app=products&event=product&product_id=748 but im not sure which ones to get 16's or 17's.....why would you go for 16's is it just a personal preference or is it cos of tyre wear and ride comfort ?

I don't think the hatchback coilovers fit, but I'm not 100% sure. Hond-R will know for sure.

Wheel wise, I'd go for a set of these in 16s if it was me: http://www.urbanimport.com/images/wheels/gt3_gm.jpg. They're called Rota GT3s. I would also go black centre and polished lip otherwise you'll have too much black and nothing to really break it up. Civic's get more power down with 16s rather than 17s. Personally, I also think 17s look too big on Civics.

yeah they look nice them wheels, i think you're right with the all black thing needs a bit of something to break it up and you talked me into the 16's too cheers thats another thing sorted wheel size and black with polished rims ;)

why the bmw over your nice coupe???:toung:

I think it's a nicer car to drive tbh. No need to drive it at the limit everywhere. I can happily cruise along, then when I want, I can boot it. Not to mention it's rwd and has more power and torque.

I basically did some thinking, I could spend loads of money on the Civic tuning it to the max, but it would still be fwd and would only hit about 220bhp. Once I was to reach that figure then the only option for more power i'd have is boost, but it wouldn't get the power down anyway because it's fwd. So I decided to stick with the BMW.
