Gto twin turbo engine question

Hi there im new to this and have just bought a twin turbo GTO which sounds to me as if its spun the bearings (bag of spanners when running) and wondering if a standard 3000 non turbo engine has the same internals and all id have to do is change the exhaust manifolds add the turbos and refit the engine thanks for looking hope to hear soon as id like to get this beast on the road ASAP

at a guess id say no. the block and head might be the same but the internals proberly will not. the turbo will be running lower compression, and proberly hardened, internals. just swapping the turbos over to the other engine would proberly end in blowing the engine up.

it could be done however youd have to runn a lot lower boost than what your currently doing

The engine internals are quite differnt the compression ratios are different for starters. Find out how much it would cost to recondition your engine as this would really be your best bet, or get an exhange recon engine from a jap specialist. (Sorry i'm a bit late - i've been away!)

rebuilding the engine is prob the best option, a lot of work but the best option after all when finished and done properly will be just like having a new engine in your motor.
I found the best places for engine rebuild kits in the u.s. links via e-bay sites etc but make sure you have ur engine code handy and contact suppliers fist to make sure your buying the right kit for your engine. Import tax a killer though try and get them to send as gift.....

cheers guys for your reponses most helpful it really just confirmed my suspicions and what i thought was wrong as ive heard a couple of ppl saying that the engines are interchangable thanks guys youve helped alot
