Hi, I read somewhere it is possible to calaculate the bhp of you engine using the VAGCOM measuring blocks using group 2 if i'm correct, so i tried it out.. the b/s value however is 236.00 g/s at idle speed of 800rpm....not too sure it should be reading this high as the calc is to divide the value by 0.8. Also the engine load was reading 33.1% at the same rpm...i think this may not be normal. This is a standard 1.8T 150bhp engine.

has anybody come across this before or may have an explaination as to why these readings might be incorrect?

Help very much appreciated.

regards

Richard

you can use anyone of the measuring blocks that measure the airflow in g/s

divide this number by 0.8 to get power.
however this doesnt allow for power gained through the timing being changed.

i do it by,iirc, measuring block 115 engine torque

record these values and then muliply them buy 0.738
this converts them from newton meters (nm) to foot pound (ftlb)

multiply your ftlb figure by the revs then divide by 5252

this will give you your power reading and you have your torque as well

i think your maf might be faulty ;)

Thanks,

I tested it again today and got more sensible readings. I think my MAF has an intermittent fault, v annoying.

Thanks for the info.
