I'm new here and this my first question and post. I hope this is the right place.

I have a 91 Toyato Tacoma with a V6
I am just wondering what all is involved in the event of engine failure to change from the V6 to a four cylinder. I dont think from what a supposed Toyota expert told me there is that much more power in the 6 but a lot better fuel mileage with the four cylinder

hey and welcome to the site

mmm changing from the 6 to a four unless the gearboxes are the same you would need to change engine, gearbox, drive shafts, mounts, linkages better just to stick another v6 in there

the v6 will have a bigger capacity therefore more fuel can be burned and so more power is created the 4 cylinder smaller capacity = less fuel =less power

the power may or may not be hugely different coud be 10 or 50bhp difference
the economy may not be much different as you may find yourself pushing the 4 cylinder harder to make it feel the same as the larger engine, for instance i was getting 35mpg from my 1.4 civic whereas i get 35mpg from my 1.8t bora simple reason im not having to push the bora or drop a couple of cogs to overtake
