FTO GR
Hi everyone, I've currently got a 96 FTO GR Manual. Really enjoying the car, smart performance and a reasonable good run-arund too. Started wondering lately what I could do to bump up the bhp without doing a full scale engine change. Fairly new to the mods business, very much a newbie so please go easy on the mind boggling although impressive jargon.

Depends on what sort of performance I'm gona get as to how much i spend really!

Well N/A tuning isn't cost effective to start with. Basic mods would be:

-A damn good service, decent oil, new plugs and maybe leads, gearbox oil etc etc.

-Cold-air induction (£100+ for something decent)

-Decat and cat-back exhaust system (£300+). You can get a high-flow cat but they tend to be expensive and more restrictive than a plain old de-cat pipe imo. You just need to swap the cat back in for your MOT unless your MOT tester is a good friend ;)

-A remap (£200-£400)

You'll be able to get parts cheaper second-hand but I can't imagine there's much flying about for the FTO.

Is it a Mivec and is it manual? Hello there and a very warm welcome to TorqueCars. Good to have another FTO owner in our midst.
