The tweel, will these catch on

What are your thoughts on this radical new design for the tyre? It has been developed by Michelin and is called the tweel/

That's been mooted around for years, originally developed for the military who were looking for a wheel that was more robust, a Tweel can take a hit from a land mine & still continue to function enough to get a vehicle to safety.

I think it's greatest hurdle in civilian form is it's image, the off roading community may be early adopters though.

Does look odd, Police will hate them! Wouldn't like to run one in the snow, it would clog up and become imbalanced.

Good point, I never thought of that , it will add to drag as well when crawling through mud/water.

Maybe if they filled the voids with a soft closed cell foam rubber?
