Newbie
Ullo Fellas - I may be (arguably) TorqueCars newest 'newbie', having signed up 30 seconds ago. We are on Eastern Standard Time, so I probably have an unfair advantage, many of you others being sound asleep !
I am a more senior eminence, having been around long enough to have emigrated from my birthplace Newcastle-upon-Tyne to Oz at the age of 8yrs in the late 1940s. In my time, have had all sorts, many early VW Beetles (and rare tuning gear)Karmann Ghias, weird air-cooled Honda coupes, NSU Ro80s, many Renault R8s including a large smattering of Gordinis, mainly 1135, but including a couple of 1134s.
Also a range of Peugeots, from 404, 404 diesel ute, 504 sedan and wagon, 505Gti, and finally discovered the 306 on the downhill run of life, and still full of ideas. I have a yard full of 306 cabriolet (2 X rear collision damage both under repair + 2 X spare cars), a couple of '98 1.8 N5s, a 206 Gti that is my daily driver, and since two days ago, a 1965 S16 with blown head gasket, which I wish to replace with a 2-litre 206 Gti engine EW10J4. It is here that in due course (soon) I will ask for assistance in understand what needs to be done to come up with an ECU that will 'seamlessly' keep the car and engine in touch.
No power advantage, just that I have a later low-kilometer engine and gearbox on hand. Look forward to talking with some of you. As the English started us all saying - "Cheers" :Name, by the way, is David Long
