If you had a classic car to restore would you just

a) Restore it as is keeping it as close to original spec as you can.
b) Modernise the engine/handling etc
c) Modernise the looks with modern seats, dash and trim etc..
d) Fully modernise the car

Would it depend on the car? Are there some cars which just need restoring and others that need modernising.

I've always wanted to restore a classic. An Mgb gt is what i'd do. An it would stay totally original. I don't think it's a classic if it has been changed or modified. Never had the space to keep 1 though. I'll get 1 some day....:D

modernise the engine and handling, most classic engines now have to be modernized with hardenend valve seats as they were designed to be run on leaded petrol

That depends upon the car in question, some modernsation would be good if used everyday, however it can also spoil a car and make it worthless.

One of the best models I have seen modernised was an MGB that had a Cosworth lump installed, the only giveaway was the wheel geometry to improve the handling, other than that it was beautifully done!

The modernised MK1 escorts do look like fun. But I cant see the point of doing this to something like an e Jag or a relatively rare car.

my option would be (D)
i watch wreckes to riches usa and they restore classics with all modern stuff

i would do the same, to make it worth while

i would keep it classic and totally restore it to its former glory if it was a rare car!
if it was say a common car i wud modernise it so that it look the same but the performance better!
