This is something that i dont think many people realise, but if you want to shift those few milliseconds off your gear changes:

Surely to do this properly the whole shift linkage needs to be altered so that the angle through which the lever needs to move is smaller

to make the most of it yes the whole linkage needs to be looked at..
however, cutting a few inches off the gear stick certainly does help with the feel of the change, not necessarily making the change any faster, but defo feels more positive

Indeed. I have a short-shifter on my GT AND the gearstick is cut down about two inches. Needs only a slight movement to change gear. One of my favourite mods on the whole car.

yeah goin well mate. cars had few tweaks here an there, my little one is doin well, and works steady ish at the mo so cant really complain mate!
as for choppin the gearstick, i did it to a hyundai accent coupe and it made a hell of a difference, so if it works one a bloody accent, gotta be worth a go on a decent motor! lol
