ive just brought a satria gti 1.8 and its not a bad little car and is quite nippy and handles very well. was looking at getting a cold air intake but the only 1s i can find are universal fitting and was wondering if its a universal fitting works just as well as 1 thats specifically made for a certain car?

Well in the early days I could only find universal versions for my car.
This did start to bring up the CEL on a regular basis which was a thundering nuisance. After a chat with my tuner he knew exactly what the issue was; apparently the ECU looks for a certain volume of air coming into the car and the CAI was upsetting this. My tuner made the appropiate tweaks to the settings and all was well.
It is different now as there are now model specific versions available to buy. There may be a slight variation in performance for your car by using a universal CAI but at least now you are aware of what could happen.
