Power for a standard clutch

How much power can a standard clutch handle over and above standard power.

Someone said to me that if you increase the power by 30% you will need an uprated clutch but I would have thought that different cars have very different strength clutches.

Diesels for example seem to have very good clutches that can handle more than this. Which makers put in the best clutches?

You have answered your own question :) Each car is different. Try posting the question on a forum dedicated to the car you are interested in.

yep need to tell us what car it is and how much power you are thinking of putting in to it but they can hold a lot if you drive it right

The only trouble with that is what is the point of increasing bhp and then driving it right? :)

i think the last post is the most accurate so far , the thing to remember is your not just increasing the horse power through the drive , your also driving harder .
unless the drive line is over engineered you will need to upgrade at some stage , just suck and see .
