Alfa 156 2.0 T.S
Hi everyone.
Never mod'ed a car before but I've recently bought an Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 T.S and I was wondering where the best place to start and what sort of gains I could be looking at (realistically!).
Cheers for the help in advance...! :D

hey mate,welcome.
get your ecu remapped will probably increase your bhp by another 10 bhp, probably cost you about 200-300 quid i think. get your self a full exhaust system, probably another 250, get your self a good decent panel filter. and your sorted.

Ta for the reply guys.
Currently in the proccess of installing some ICE which is using up all my extra beer tokens for this month, but it's likely to be an ongoing project so i guess anywhere in the region of 1000 to 2000 quid?? dunno really...! I know that if its going to go faster then itll have to stop faster too.
What sort of gains would i be looking at with the filter, remap, and exaust one in a mil?
Ta again for the advice,

Autodelta.

For around £800 just a stage 1 camshaft and a remap will give you about 20bhp extra. Excluding fitting obviously.

filter remap and exhaust (are we talking cat back or whole thing ?) you should see around 10bhp with a cam as well MA has said closer to 20 and id second that

JUST a cam and remap from Autodelta will net ITRO 20bhp, proven several times over. So with a good enough intake and exhaust you might be looking at a near on 30bhp gain.

Hmmm, that doesnt seem too shabby i guess! autodelta is a long way for me to go though! Im down in plymouth. wouldnt the local tuning specialists be able to do the same sort of thing?
Cheers for all the great advice by the way guys. Only been a member a couple of hours and already getting a good idea as to what i'll be looking at realistically.

Just order the cam and get it fitted and remapped somewhere locally. I sited Autodelta as it's pretty much a one-stop-shop but if you look around you can probably find cams with the same profiles for less. Try C&B etc etc.

Cracking.
Ive just been mincing abouth the forums and I noticed youd posted something about a 147 2.0 t.s being tuned up to 230bhp?? I'm assuming the same would be possible for the 156...?
are we talking silly money for these sorts of gains or is it in the realms of sensible hard working people with some extra cash left over at the end of each month??

If it was one of my posts, and you have the same engine, then yes it's possible. We're not talking silly money imo but everyones value of silly money is different I guess. I have no qualms about spending large amounts of money on cars myself; it's my hobby and I don't spend it going out smoking and drinking every night like a lot of my mates so why not.

Link me to the post and I'll be able to tell you more. I'd imagine it was turbo'd or supercharged though. Can be done for around £5k fitted, considerably less if you can do it yourself.

Sorry I'm a bit late, welcome to the forum. We seem to have had quite a few Alfa owners joining recently! :D
