iridium vs platinum

Platinum reportely lasts for 100,000 miles Iridum is quoted at 150,000 to 200,000 so has a longer life cycle. (I changed mine at 40,000 as per the Audi service schedule but now I'm wondering why I bothered with a life cycle over 3 times that!)

In high compression situations the Iridium plugs perform better. In a stock engine I doubt you would notice the difference so stick with the cheapest.;)

A spark is a spark. It either ignites the fuel or not. I think people worry too much about plugs. I concede that small electrodes are better than fat ones as there is more fuel exposed to the spark but other than that I can't see it matters.

A match is all it takes to set a blazing forest fire going. Using a bigger match or even a flame thrower will not make much of a difference to the end result.
