Greetings to all! I tought an epic line from "Casablanca" is apropriate here!:D
My name is Mladen, live in Croatia, Europe, 38 y.o., married. Railroad worker. If my english sounds funny at times in my defend I must say that I come from the part of Croatia where people talk Croatian. (hope all of you see it is a joke on myself;) )
Not an engineer or experienced tuner, maybe not an tuner at all...
My main car is Seat Ibiza 1,9 TDI with ATD engine. My first step into modifying was last winter when I got my Ibiza remaped from 100PS/240Nm into 130PS/300Nm.
Next step will be - tomorow!
Got all suspension parts in trunk and apointment with mechanic at 8.00 AM.

How I found you? By chance, I guess. Was trying to find some relevant info on strut braces and stumbled here. Site is - great! "Me like!"

Feel free to point me if I missed something or to ask anything what might be interesting.

Mladen

Greetings and Welcome to our TorqueCars car Forum :)

Feel free to have a look around the website, there are many varied and interesting articles to read on all manner of car modifying subjects.
Also, you may find our members project threads and photo gallery very useful as a source of inspirational ideas towards your own special project!

Enjoy! :)

Car is all stocksightish. (is that a word? Ha-ha)
Tomorow will get suspension upgrade. Pictures? Off course! Soon! Unfortunatly, my modings will be few and apart. I'm just into slight improving stock car. Got no funds, and more importantly, no knowledge for big overhaulings.
Thank you all for wellcoming me!

P.S. My response is not due 10 posts rool. Really feel good about site and atmosphere here.

No problem Zwaf, have a little look around the site and join in on some of the chatter, you will hit 10 posts in no time at all ;)

Well, T9 man, i'm an bigmouth!
Forum is big and it will took me some time to explore corners here. Right now I'm on Classic Ford's - yellow Escort and bad carma Capri - gone to see what hapens to that beauty till today.

Howdo, sticking the bigger brakes off a golf r32 is a common mod in vag world and not too expensive. You'd need the whole set tho, including caliper and carrier, and not just bigger disks.

Hello there and may I extend to you a very warm welcome to TorqueCars forums.
It is great to meet you and I hope you enjoy the forums as much as we all do and that you get totally addicted to this site.

Tell us what are your plans for your car?

Tell us a bit about yourself and where you're from? What is the tuning scene like over there.

What cars have you owned in the past then?

Do feel free to get involved in our other threads too, the more the merrier as they say and we are friendly (being friendly is actually a forum rule!:))

Tenk's all!
Yugguy, about brakes for my car, on one Seat specific forum (don't know if I'm alowed to spell here wich one?) there is consensus about Audi TT mk1 brakes with ATE calipers and 312mm discs as usual and cost efective. Maybe R32 mk4 got the same set up?
Anyway, my car is on lower spec so I must change hubs also because my hubs is in one peace with caliper carriers. (hope term "hubs" is correct one for peace of car on which we bolt the disc and carrier. Technical english is somewhat dificult for someone who learned language by listening blues and rock LP's in youth... ;) )

Waynne, tenk you for "extension"!

Plans? Not a very bold plans actually. Sofar got remap, and tomorow will pick my car from mechanic who instaled Platimex (-40 mm) springs and Koni yellow schocks. Still waiting for wheel spacers. Current wheels is 205/45R16 on 6,5x16 ET43 (9 spoke) alloys from Chrysler. Spacers will be 20mm front and rear with hubcentric...what is the word? Hope you understand what I aim to tell.

About cars - nothing egsotic! Ford Escort mk1 LX1300 when I was just a kid father left t to me but never manage to enjoy it full - it was 1991. Few years later an Opel (Vauxhal?) Ascona 1200 - I loved that car. Weak engine but it was my Bluesmobile! Then Renault 4 - bad peace of otherwise succesfull model - for me that was a lesson how not to buy car.
And than in 1996 got hands on 2 y.o. Golf mk3 TDI with 90 HP - managed to make 385000km (no not a tipfeller) with no single failure on it! As you see - not one of them was modified in anny way. Then come brand new Ibiza 1,9 TDI with 101HP Sport package with adition of full automatic A/C and 4 discs in 2003. Car with some minor issues, but good engine and semi good suspension. Schocks with soft rebound and (relatvelly) stiff bound. Car handled good while schocks was good. Crashy somethimes, but good. Never experienced excessive understeer everybody shout about when you mention Ibiza TDI. Guess that is everyone else got PD130 which got stiffer front sway bar than my car?
In meanwhile, wife got Renault Clio 1200 (production year is 2003). Man, that car roll! But it hold the road pretty good! Light engine encourages you to bring the speed intoo curve and all you have to do is not disturb the roll center and she will go supriseingly good. Steerin g might be more precise, but hey, Renault did leave some tricks for higher range in Clio familly.

Where from am I?
About 100 km (65 miles) south-east from Zagreb near FBiH border. Small town and pretty much "b roads". Not good for finding job or education, but decent for driving.
Tuning scene in Croatia is young. Altough there are some really skillfull people who managed to make good looking and good driving vehicles.
Pros are we got cheaper mechanics and hands of people with skills are not chargable here like it is in UK for instance. Fitting the turbo will manage for about 40 Ł
Cons - every part here is few times costier. For instance - OEM turbo here cost as much as hybrid one in UK.

Hope I answered what you asking for. If you wanna hear something more just ask more, mate!

i had the 312mm setup as standard on my bora and it is decent setup. the R32 setup is nice but isnt cost effective as the discs are something stupid each - sure they are around £200 each from VAG as they are, iirc, 323mm

i changed mines to the porche 996 rear setup. means i kept my 312mm discs and gained lighter 4 piston callipers, very nice difference when mated to good pads.

your right about your hubs. you will need the ones from 1.8 or larger engines - watch out the 2.0s might be the smaller version as well - if you go for the V6 variants then you will get the carriers and if you have a nice srapyard you might even get the callipers as well

pgarner & Yugguy,
Thanks for direction!
Porsche calipers...wow! IIRC with 4 pistons made by brembo? Think it could stop you even from free fall :)
I got info that only Ibiza/Fabia/Polo hubs will be good for me, but Golf mk4/Leon mk1/A3/Octavia mk1 hubs does not fit in Ibiza mk4. Shame! Last month got decent offer for those.
I'm pretty much "inprisoned" with my job this week, but hopefully next week will got time to make some pics and introduce my humble car. Just had installed -40mm springs and Koni Yellow schocks. Pretty good in my opinion - feel like rear end could use some more stiffening but will wait while got all 4 wheel spacers fited.

ahh sorry thought it was a leon you had not sure on the ibiza the fabia VRS would probably be your best bet.
