what year is made your rx-7?
welcome to TC mate.

1995 so that's the newer shape. Turbo. What mods has it got so far? If any? Any chance of getting some pics up? Especialy under the bonnet? Also, what's your budget? As that's a big determining factor with all the jap beasts. It's easy to spend £15k plus on modifying one of these for performance.

As said above you need to think about a budget as the RX7 is not only expensive to modify but they can get expensive to run. Also some garages won't even touch an RX7.

It currently has no performance upgrades (of my knowledge) although my uncle obviously thought it was a good idea to replace the exhaust with a paint tin, I am looking to spend about £10,000 at the mo although if it really stars to take shape i could certainly spend more.

Also why wont some garages touch rx7's

Probably know sweet FA about Rotary engines. Or even the cars themselves being as they're not that common. You want a specialist to do the work anyway really if you're not doing it yourself. I wouldn't trust an ordinary garage.

That and they might not actualy understand why they need regular (ish) rebuilds so don't want to be blamed if they fit an air filter and next week it needs a rebuild lol.

sorry to sound like a complete idiot (which i am) but, Regular rebuilds?

Perhaps someone without any experience would be better off with a simpler car. Should i sell and look to buy a different car, if so i could spend approximately 17.5g's

Depends how much you like the car. I think I was a little hasty in saying regular tbh, didn't mean to scare you lol. I've heard that generally the average rebuild interval is about 60k miles on a standard, well looked after Rex. That is an average however. It may last 100,000, it may last 40,000. Obviously this will decrease if the engine is modified and/or being pushed hard all the time, or if you don't give it very regular oil changes.

What happens is the Apex seals on the tips of the rotor wear out and stop seperating the chambers in the housing.

10k would still get you a very rapid RX-7 though.

With 17 and a half grand the worlds your oyster mate :D, plenty of cars to choose from if you feel you want to get rid of it.

You could get a skyline for less then that.

mate, look for the greddy T41 i think.
search if there's a dealer near you.
it should bring you 30-40% more power, if you're looking for tuning.

Charger, it's not a simple as slapping on a big turbo and getting 30-40% more power. It just doesn't work like that.

And you do realise that picture you posted up is a Supra engine?

I think he was showing an example of what could possibly be done if you have the time and money to spend.

An rx7 with a supra engine would be sweet indeed but these days it would be better just to buy a supra, still it would be a decent project to do.

i know it's not simple, but it's up to him to search online and see how to install a T41.
and yeah, just wanted to show him what those mazda's can handle.
the #!#!#!#!el rotary engine, as i know can't dig up more than 500 HP.

I think you'll find that the rotary engine can produce more than 500BHP. But it is very expensive to do so.

Hi and welcome to TorqueCars. We have a few RX7 owners on here already. Nice cars, good on tracks and nicely balanced plus they seem to rev to infinity.;) I hope you enjoy your time on here as much as we all do.
