Barry Sheene and James Hunt

Yep! they wer my heroes in the 70s sheen probably had more metal in him than bone,i think he moved to aus so the climate was better for his aches and pains, not sure what happaned to james hunt!

Watched this some time ago. Alot of people didn't realise what those guys got up to on race weekends and some activities before a race! Two great characters, pity we don't see their likes anymore, sport has lost its sense of humour with money and lucrative sponsorship deals ruining it imo.

Another great from the same era was Gerry Marshall, it couldn't have drink but boy could he drive! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIUryTV5DII&feature=related

I have a couple of signed books of his, 'Only here for the beer' ;)

James Hunt. He'd knob your missus, drink your champagne, smoke your cigars, then jump in an F1 car and beat you soundly round the track.

Them were the days.

Early on in the piece Gerry mentions Nick Whiting. Knew him pretty well (well, as well as a regular customer to his shop 'All Car Equipe' opposite Brands Hatch, can know him).

Good driver, made a lot of money but messed with the wrong people and paid the ultimate price.

Those guys were great and both were my heroes. Struggling to think of any real characters now in the respective sports.

I can't think of many characters, george best, james hunt, ollie reed, barry sheene, all 70's folk, who has there been since the 70's a couple of rolling stones and that dick charlie sheene. Bring back rock n roll
