Aluminium Head Repairer Wanted

Help! On removing the exhaust manifold studs from a YB we are rebuilding I dicsovered that one of them had snapped 2 threads below the face some time ago. On attempting to extract the broken bit we managed to crack the head!

Can anyone recommend an aluminium head repairer in Essex?

Don't know of anyone in Essex OG, but what about the legendary Ric Wood of CNC Heads? Cannot think of a safer pair of skilled hands to entrust it too.

Always hard finding the right person to weld alloy heads. I had to repair my HS Chevette head when a ring let go and bruised the head, did about 50 thou of damage. Found a great welder that built it up for me and after I skimmed it and re-shaped the chamber it was as good as new. Luckily I only had two bent valves.

Thanks for the suggestions and contact details Matt and T9.

However, I had a word with my alloy welder and he was able to remove the remains of the stud, build the area back up, grind it back to shape and helicoil it for £35. What a result.

Head is back together and will be fitted on Monday. A new set of studs will be fitted as soon as they arrive from Burtons and it will then be listed on eBay. It ended up being a lot easier (and cheaper) than first feared.
