THE
VW GT BUG:
The early 70's proved to be a competitive time for Volkswagen. One of their
moves was to bring out special series beetles...the first of which was the
VW GT Beetle. It is thought to be the best Beetle ever built. Equipped with
sports wheels, sports accesories, this bug was 10 secs faster
0-60 than previous1300cc models. The GT Beetle you see below belongs to our
Website designer, and as you can see is in 1st class condition having had a
full restoration and engine rebuild:
This Gt Beetle has had a full
restoration including a respray in the original 'Lemon yellow'.
Standard the GT came with 1600cc motor as standard, but this one has
been bored out to a 1776cc motor providing around 120 bhp. The car has
many modifications including a pair
of Dellorto carbs, lightened Flywheel,
straight-cut cam gears, GT gearbox,
adjustable
Spax suspension, brand new chasis, and a Bass exhaust system.
Exterior has also been altered...blade chrome bumpers, and an important
addition are original 70's Riviera alloys which finish off the look.
Interior is pretty much standard excepting the install of I.C.E (well
it would have happened had the amateur punks at 'autobase' in Deal,
Kent, not gone and messed it up big style!!!).
