One of the main attractions of this Beetle were the outstanding looks (it wasn't called the 'crumpet catcher for nothing! ;-)). The original colour stood out from anything else, and check out the way it sits on the road. The wheels were in line with the 'cal look', where large rear tyres are order of the day (in this case front: 175-55-R15 ... rear: 185-65-R15). The Dellorto 36 carbs give the motor a throaty induction roar, enhanced by the B.A.S twin box exhaust system. Handling (normally a bit dubious on a standard Beetle) was excellent due to Spax lowered adjustable suspension, and wide tyres.

	This GT Beetle provided an excellent compromise for both speed, handling and practicality. The 1776cc engine was enough to polish off most competition, and if not, then it certainly won hands down on looks and sound!
