THE
VW BAJA BUG:
First of all, we should give you a brief overview of what exactly a 'Baja beetle'
is. This outrageous look is getting increasingly popular, and deserves consideration.
For starters, so you don't make a fool of yourself... Baja is pronounced ba-ha.
The origins of the word are Spanish. The Baja is known partly due to a desert
race called the Baja-1000, which covers 1000m of desert terrain. Thus a Baja
beetle is generally suited to mad off roading, and has a style to suit.
At
the moment, we are still awaiting info on this beetle! He lives in Scotland
which doesn't exactly help matters, but I will be getting in touch with
him to get the
whole story!
The interior consists of gorgeous leather bucket seats in the front, with
the originals retained in the back. To keep an eye on what's going on, he's
mounted
a VDO
temperature
gauge...and
a large rev counter mounted on the transmission tunnel!
It
features typical Baja bars around the car, and runners along the side, and when
we last
saw it, it was running on a modified 1600cc engine. The grip on the thing
is near unshakable due to mahoooosive back wheels, and the handling is excellent
due to modified adjustable suspension!
