hello to everyone im new to this site the names thomas i currently work for citroen and mazda as a mechanic. I recently bought myselff an rx8 2006 230bhp hi-power i am currently toying with the idea of turbo charging her but i have never heard any good news of those engines being turbo'd. i could strip and re-build the whole car but when it comes to aftermarket im lost.. So i need some advise on my idea - is it a good idea and if so where can i proceed with this huge leap .? i am worried the turbo will burn the rotar tips out off her which would spell disaster!!
so please advise !!
Also i was told re-mapping the e.c.u on my car will get me another 30bhp is this a load of b@=#ks or is thier any truth . many thanks

Hello and welcome to the site mate

ive only heard that the engine isnt as good for turboing as the older w4nkel engine.

as for the remapping you would see a decent gain but i think 30 is being a little optimistic maybe 10bhp although the rotary has less friction so you may get slightly more

hey thanks for the reply , iv only heard rumors also but thier is thousands of turbo'd rx7/rx8 you tube is full of them but i think my best power gain would be to add another rotar to the engine than turboing her .. im at a loss wat to do with her :-/

Porting is a good option on the rotary engines. You're big problem with a turbo will be heat.

The catalyst is the UK spec cars weakspot. Fit a sports cat and you'll be flying along with a remap of course!

There are a few turbo kits around for the RX7 w4nkel but I've not seen any for the RX8 Renesis yet.
