yo yo yo went and got my 306 remaped the other day 180 fine engish pounds well worth it!! lots more hp and torque gota let the new map settle in gona take it back next week get it on the dyno!! the bloke who done it for me rekons its 140bhp now! he had a problem with doing it tho i had an electrical problem with it so he couldnt remap it in my car!!! so he put it into another n done it all is well tho! just wondering on my dash the airbag light comes on when the engine is starterd!! it sometimes flashes and sometimes stays on! it would be much apreciated if anyone has got any ideas to what could be wrong???

it was flashing before the remap but i didnt think anything of it but the bloke said the car has a bad electrical fault!! the car runs fine tho im gona be stripping the airbags out soon anyway so ill take the fuses out n then it will have no power to flash haha

Common fault of these, it's done it to me, it's not the ECU at fault it's jsut typical crappy Peugeot wiring,

Lift both the front seats up and you will see some nasty cheap orange connectors, on the wiring loom attached to the underside of the seat, You will have 2 or 3 (most likely 3 as you have a Phase 3 car) best thing to do is chop the connectors out and either solder the joins back together or crimp them, obviously make a not of how they go together as you really don't want to cross the wires,

2nd place to check is the airbag ecu which is under the dash board and to get at it the centre console has to come out, It's easy to take out so don't panic, same again you will notice some more of those orange connectors, do the same chop the buggers off and solder or crimp and also the large plug that on the right hand side just check it's plugged in properly

last place to check is the rotary swtich behind the steering wheel, now these are avaliable from your pug deal for about £30 so not expensive, romve the airbag and steering wheel, (only do this if the other 2 things fail)

if it still doesn't fix the problem then your airbag ecu might be buggered and need replacing

don't get the main ecu flashed for this as it will cure the problem for about 5 mins and you will taring your hair out cause it just cost you £50 for them to do that

also the best to disconnect the megative terminal on the battery before you do it and wait 10 mins or so just to make sure that the airbags don't go off when you are hacking at the wires

haha sick mate nice one for that ill get on it after work tomoz stripped my car out inside so there no centre console! ill let you no how it goes cheif

Well if you plan on taking the air bags out then the airbag ecu can be removed all together, the light on the dash will have to be taken out physically for it to stop flashing after you take everything out, that's assuming you are though...

I'm concerned that the tuner commenced work and charged you when the car was reporting a fault.

This is not good and it's certainly not the way to proceed.

Even though it would make no difference as the airbag system is separate,

HDi still has a point, obviously this guy should know about remapping but from what you told me he isn't a specialist on the 306 so he should have stayed on the side of caution cause he didn't know what problems he could have caused

yeah i am goin to be takin it out soon but im just gettin sick of lookin down and its flashin away!! want to sort the problem for now! i was pritty concerned myself he did seem a bit dodgy didnt want to leave the car with him a first but i got passed on buy a mate n hes had them done there quite a few times so i had to trust him! he done it on the side for us so wasnt to botherd as long as he made it go faster

sorted it now mate cut the conecters off like you sed and nothin hapened so i just took the speedo dial out n took the buld out and stripped the airbags out too jobs a gooden nice one

yeah mate just usde a bit of electrical tape was that rite? is the airbag control the bit behind the gear stick? i took that out, passenger airbab drivers too got another sterin wheel on order and some light weight carpet to redo the interior. The metal work looks a bit messy coverd in spray adhesive!

I wish I could afford to save at all. At the moment we're not far from living hand-to-mouth, things are really really tight financially.

We're it not that we're both accomplished cooks we'd all be hungry as well.

I live at home with my parents, so I really have no excuse not to have savings really,

I do plan to move out once I have a better job
I'll still buy those seats off you chap and the rear ones provided they are in good condition :)
