HONDA CIVIC TYPE R
HI EVERYONE I WAS THINKING OF GETTING MY TYPE R RE-MAPPED ANYONE ANY ADVICE ON THIS? NOT SURE IF I SHOULD GET IT DONE OR NOT

IMHO I don't think it is worth doing unless you have any other mods to be taken into account.

That said it is possible to raise the VTEC band by getting it to kick in lower down the rev range and this can be good for a few extra ponies.

What have you been quoted (money/power gains)?

As said, not a massive bang for your buck. Thing is most of the Honda Type-R engines are that good already they're hard to tune and improve on without a hefty wallet.

just been told by angel tunning in scotland that the type r cant be re=mapped how much would it be to get the band raised waynne?

it's not worth it mate. For the money you will spend you'll get a very small power increase.

What other mods have you done?
hi prince ive got a straight thru stainless steel exhaust de-catted apart from that the cars standard im upgradeing the brakes next but i need more power the type r is not fast enough for me now!! I would really like a evo 10 rs but cant afford one just now. Gutted!!

hi bud dont know what to do to it everywhere i turn i come up against a brick wall!! Any ideas?

Indeed. Retaining the high compression and running a turbo on low boost on the standard internals is the way forwards for you imo. Will most likely need fuelling upgrades and definately standalone seeing as the Type-R ECU apparantly can't be re-mapped. Several have been boosted before so do a google search or something and you should find plenty of info, maybe even whole kits.

thanks bud will do

yeah its a pretty strong engine you could proberly get away with high 9 maybe even 10:1 as long as it was mapped properly and you used the super unleaded of course.

best to try and find a specialist - HondaR is well liked by a few members on here
they might go more for supercharging rather than turbocharging due to the way the Vtec kicks in
