Pulling a wheelie in a car

What sort of power and setup does a car need to pull a wheelie on the initial start of a drag race?

Does this happen much or is it just something they save for the movies.

Lots of grip and an incorrect suspension setup.

It does happen at the strip but the car doing it usually loses (I'm talking 3 to 4 feet wheelies here, not a few inches). It looks good to most of the spectators, but it slows the car's launch as the car is rotating around the rear wheels rather than accelerating.

Idealy, the fornt wheels should just stay in contact with the track so most of the weight is transferred to the rear wheels but the car can still be steered.

Wheelies are usually controlled by the fitting of wheelie bars that restrict body rotation.
