ok so currently been running magnatec 10w40 semi, but engine is now sounding but tappey and since heatwrapping my 6 branch, oil temps have been up as much as 8degrees!

most of the vr6 boys recommend quantum syntac silver 10w40, but i was thinking would a 5w40 fully synthetic do the trick? if so what do you recommend?

cheers

okay so just had a look and your website also comes up with 5w40 fully synth as recommended for my car....

so now im wondering if maybe a 10w40 fully synth is the way to go with it being tappy and running hot etc?

I don't think it's quite so much to do with the viscosity as much as it is with the quality of the oil. The Quantum stuff is nothing special and I don't think it's handling the higher temps well. A good ester based 5w-40 or 10w-40 is fine at up to 130C, so I would go with one of those.

Out of those, the ester ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition.
