The basic idea is that we will all have to drive around with our lights on in the day time. Perhaps this was put forward by the bulb manufacturers or there is now a Volvo engineer consulting with the eurpoean parliment ;)

What do you think abou this? Will accident rates be lower if we have to use our lights during the day time?

Daylight at the oasis...

I think it's a good idea, especially at this time of year, I bought D.L.R kit for my last car, though I admit it was for the 'follow me home' feature! The headlights ran at 70% during the day, it made me feel safer because I drove a dinky little car & anything that got me noticed more (especially on the motorway) was a bonus

Stop flashing me I havn't left my headlights on!

First we had speed humps for the suspension & petrol companies, don't tell me it's to slow us down, I had Volvo estate that went over them at any speed, and look now how everybody drives down the middle of the road, swerving everywhere to avoid them. Petrol increases under acceleration & braking not under a constant.
Now this.
The only time that 'lights on' in day time is a bonus (other than on a motorcycle, due only to its size and speed) is when the sun is low in the sky and you're driving towards it, cars coming the other way can be lost in the suns glow. In places like Sweden etc that are far north in winter the sun does not rise very high in the sky and this is why they have day light lights. Oh yer it will also give plod a great reason to stop you any time a lamps out. Cheers europe once again.
