My horn doesn't work

MOT time is coming up and im doing the usual rundown over the car and found out that the horn doesn't work. Ive had a good look round the engine bay an i cant evEn find the horn lol. Ive been told by a friend that this problem is common an is to do with a wiring problem behind the stirring wheel.
Is this true?
If so, can i fix it myself? :???:

its not as simple as the fuse has blown mate

Na I ve had a good look at the fuse box and everything seems fine.

Next thing is to locate the horn itself and test it by attaching a live line to the switched live. If it works then the problem is at the steering wheel if not you just need a new horn.

Be careful with this. If your car has the multiplex wiring (the later 406s do) then you need to isolate the horn before applying 12vDC to it.
