How to get a matt or silk paint finish.

Matt finishes seem to be making a comeback and we've seen a few ways to achieve a matt finish from the application of film to tins of spray paint. Here is the DIY approach using tins of paint, one of our members fancied having a go and here is an opportunity to learn from his experience. A TorqueCars member has taken his Megane, hired an industrial unit and spray painted his car.

personally, im not that keen on matt finishes.

I like them, they are hard to maintain though, as you can't polish or apply wax or you defeat the whole purpose.

The best option is a matt wrap IMO, they are easy to apply and shouldn't need as much care as regular paintwork!

I think matt is cool! You need a pretty big car to pull it off and it has to look menacing!

I just cannot get on with the matt finish look I'm afraid. I know plenty of people love the look but it just looks like it needs a polisher and a T-cut to me.

We'll get used to it over time. Metallics and pearlescents were unpopular when they were first launched.
