Hi guys am new on here!! Looks like a great forum with plenty of different cars and petrol heads!!

I was wanting to pick some brains about swapping an engine in my car!!

Have a new well 2nd hand lump, was looking at gear box and wondered if the output shaft to the rear wheels is easy to disengage from the gearbox??

I'm planing on lifting the engine and gearbox out together!!

Any advice would be greatly app!!

What you up to q4pete? Is is a tuned up replacement, a turbo swap or a turbo swap for a NASP. Are you changing the gearbox over?

If you are referring to the removal of the transfer box, yes, it is simple.
Remove the downpipes. The transfer box is bolted to the g/box via 5 bolts, 17mm socket. There are two dowels that locate the t/box onto the g/box. With gentle sideways movement at the rear of the transfer box it may be able to free the t/box. If not, a pry bar is required to persuade the t/box off. Be careful as you don't want to damage any of the fins on the t/box casing. Once free it will slide sideways, then slide it off the propshaft, simple.
The engine and gearbox will come out together as one unit but you will need to remove the bonnet first as lifting it upwards is by far the easiest method of removal.
