It's getting to the point that I need to sort out the fire suspression system for the Elan.

Having had one fire in the car (many years ago) I don't want a repeat experience!

However, I know nothing about what would be best and the choice of systems is daunting.

Requirements:
As light as possible, obviously :)
Electrically and manually controlled
Protection of all three areas (engine, cabin and boot)

Questions:
Size required for a small but fibreglass/carbon bodied car.
Number of nozzles?
Suppressant?

Price isn't the primary concern (no point in having money in the bank but dead) but it is a consideration.

Not sure of the details Steve, but a chap called Terry who owns this monster

Had to get a Halon fire extinguisher system fitted to the F40 for insurance purposes, it snuffs out the fire/flames in a ridiculously short time.

This is part of the pipework (In red) installed.

Thanks Os. I don't think there is an insurance issue (but I will check with the only two brokers that will touch the car). My concern is fire on the track so I need to find out the best stuff for extinguishing fibreglass, carbon fibre and race fuel.

Understood, but my understanding from Terry is that Halon is like the Arnie Schwarzenegger of fire extinguisher systems, but I am sure they will be able to advise further. Good luck |B
