ditch the stupid clamps that vw use and get some mikalor clamps, more expensive than hose clips but alot better.
i know the diesel owners use cable ties to increase the clamping force

I'll second that motion, invest in Mikalor's, job done.

    Another vote for Mikalor's.

I've bought some in preparation of my conversion.

do the pipes that the hoses go onto have a lip on them?
if not i do remember there was a thread about putting a lip on them to increase the tolerance of pressure attainable before the hose would "pop off".

yeah the pipes do have beads on them but the clips that VW use are just spring clips they arent even proper hose clamps

Cheap Halfords hose clips are good for me at 22psi! Fastest most convenient thing at the time. I will upgrade to Mikalors when I get chance but apart when from I forgot to tighten one I've had no issues.
