ecu

Country bumkin might be the best one to get in touch wit.

post up another 3 posts - have a look in general chats and polls to get the count up (over 10) and you should have PMs enabled

You have PM's now. Are you rebuilding an ECU then? Is it the resistors you are replacing?
yes i am rebuilding the ecu,no its not the resistors its one surface capacitor (the little square ones)
i may have cooked them by putting a jump pack on car too start it,
theres no values on them so gonna have too do some rsearch on it,
if youve got any ideas please pm me
cheers and happy christmas

DOH! I mant to type capacitors! Sorry! It had been a long day!

I have a similar issue with my DVD player. Having researched capacitors they can be quite hard to diagnose. You really need to do a full inline circuit test to identify the broken one.

I've heard that it is good practice to replace all of the capacitors on the GTO when it gets to a certain age. When they do go I think that a replacement ECU is the only option. It would be worth sending Country Bumpkin a PM with a link to this thread as he's the man when it comes to the GTO.
