Hi

My wife's L reg 2litre Astra convertible is having a few problems keeping the rain out.

The water leaks in at each front corner of the hood dripping down along the seal above the door and soaking the seats.

We had the hood replaced by a well respected local hood specialist. Still leaked. Went back and they re-tensioned hood. Still leaked. They suggested that it must be the rubber seal between the hood frame and windscreen.

The seal between the hood and screen looks OK and all drain holes are clear. The only place that cab supply this seal is Vauxhall. The dealer suggested that the seal may well be the problem. Cost - £300 + fittting + vat but with no guarantee that this would solve the problem.

Before we spend around £500 has anyone here had a similar problem and found a solution?

Thanks

Thoroughly clean it. A rubber restorer may help rejuvinate the seems (There is one for hoses made by the people that do slick 50).

To track down the leak tape some tissue to the inside of the door and keep checking it - it will help find the exact problem area. It is usually a seepage/capillary problem rather than a proper leak.

Thanks Waynne. We know where it is coming in, but not why. The rubber restorer is worth a try - I will report back.
