APU engine into ??

Hi folks,
I've got a Passat with the APU engine in running approx. 240bhp and know what a versatile engine it is.
I have a mate who has the same engine + box from the same car, plus ecu,wiring, ancilliaries lying in his garage , it is in good condition and there is a FMIC , induction kit and other goodies with it.
I can have it all for next to nothing !
I want to build a car for night rallies locally ...... what smallish cars will this engine fit in ?
I know that whatever it is it will need work , but obviously, the least the better.
Any ideas please ??

the smallest car I know of is the mk1 golf
My mate got 1 in his mk3 astra van but ran out of patients when he couldn't get it to start cause of the immobiliser so abandoned the project

That's a thought, I wonder how you get around that ? Thanks for the reply.

Also be careful as some engines are transverse and others are inline and the mounts/driveshafts etc will all be in different places.
