a3 1.8t quattro
Hello, I would like some advice on getting my Audi A3 1.8T Quattro to 300+bhp. The car was modified when I bought the car about 8 years ago and a dyno report said it was running at 254bhp, the modifications I know of are it has been custom remapped has a milltek sports cat exhaust, green cotton air filter, H & R lowering springs. not sure if this has helped much

the car was off the road for 2 years and since then it does not seem as powerfull as before, is there anything that I should change eg spark plug or oil change etc?

what other modifications would I need to get the car above 300bhp and what sort of prices am I looking at

Hope you can help and thanks in advance.
Paul

If car has already 254 then thats a lot, but if you saying that it lost some of its power than main focus should be in finding out why and where is that loss.
Asking for another 50BHP seems impossible without soending thousands of pounds. Dont forget it is a 1.8 not 3.0. I'm not a turbo specialist, but changing your turbo to some super supercharger will be the place to start as this turbo if is standard could fail very quickly with extra 50bhp. Intercooler would help a bit for sure, but to gain that extra power I think you would have to rebuild the engine completely as it wasn't design to handle this sort of power.
How much power does the S3 engine has????? maybe look for a S3 engine.
There is quiet few pro tunners so just wait and I'm sure they will put more light on it.

oh...just to give you more understanding about what I mean, I dont have a turbo, but with the remap, green filter and quality fuel I've got in the region of 300-310BHP - and thats on 3.7 V8. Comparing to 1.8 4cylinders, imagine how much you would have to modify your engine further. 250mark for this sort of engine seen to be a very good result

Also being over 8 years old and just a standard 4 cylinder engine, any further power increase could put much more stress which could end up with an engine fault, so better is to look for a S3 engine ;) but depends what sort of power they can offer before any further mods

Im sure the s3 has the exact same engine as the a3 isnt it?

But isn't the s3 engine like extra stronger and more powerful than the standard a3?
Ideal would be rs3 engine but I dont think there was rs3 yet in 2002, only just recently or there was one? Because the rs engines are extra strong and powerful for sure.

The turbo is the thing holding you back. To get that much on a standard turbo I would guess you've already got a K04 in there, the KO3s is not that reliable at over 300bhp.

Drop in a hybrid turbo, larger fuel injectors and the engine should be good for a fair bit more. It would be a sensible precaution to get the engine strengthened and I'd also recommend a flowed and ported cylinder head (CNC do a nice job on the 1.8T and you should get a +1 done on the exhaust ports.)
