Do all the 306 axles fit for eg DT, GTI-6, XSI, S16 ARE THEY ALL THE SAME??

Not sure really but I would suspect that they will bolt up but you may need t change a few things. Ie Supension and such.
The only way to be really sure is to ask for the Peugeot part numbers. Sometimes sport models have a different setup but I would have guessed that in this case they are all the same.

Yea they all fit in place of each other but...
The one off the hdi gti6 and xsi though is better as it has stiffer anti roll bar and disc brakes...they are easy to change as well
You have the best beam on yours anyways so I wouldn't worry about it....

I can get a rear axle for £145, but i am not sure whether the mk1 will be the same as the mk2 can anyone confirm this cheers

It depends wheather it has the discs or the drums.
You need the one with the discs, the phase 2 beam has slightly bigger discs on it than the phase 1 they both will fit
