1.6 16v xel vectra

PLEASE HELP ME... I'm in 5th coming up to a roundabout, drop it into 3rd, pull out the other side. NO POWER.. I back off and go again and it pulls fine then. Does anyone have an idea why this happens. I'ne heard the induction system is masive and can be restrictive, but dont know if this can cause the problem.???????
