Gel based battery, im pretty sure these are batteries where instead of the electrolite being a fluid and leaking, sloshing about etc, a gel based battery would effectively be a gel instead of a fluid.... preventing the battery from leaking etc..... i think this is right if im wrong im sure some...

i didnt know they did a touring car in the model of the saphire, i thought that was only used in the rally...?

the light will come on to tell you there is a fault, this fault will be recorded by your vehicles ECU and it could be triggered by many problems from injector issues to saftey issues to a sensor fault and so on, if you car will not start then there is obviously a major fault i suggest your...

first thing to do is i would suggest if you have not done it allready is to ring the police on there non-emergency number, they may be able to help you remove your car before there is a accident or a patrol car find its and has it towed away thinking it has been nicked and dumped or someting...

is there any difference in the lights? one appearing to be newer than the other? or any creases in the slam panel and along the insides of the wings where the bonnet would come down onto? these would suggest a shunt.

how quickly does it get hot? and how hot are we talking? the broblem could be one or two of a handfull, such has the headgasket or the water pump, etc... have you got water in the tank? if so what colour? either way what ever the problem may be it would appear to me to be something you should...

is there any smoke coming from the exhaust? or any other symptoms?

i would just replace the filter with a performance one fella and it might be worth checking the air flow sensor, if thats clogged up/ dirty then the ecu will be thinking there is not as much air going through as there really is and can sometimes cause an idle problem. i would imagine the filter...

the V6 is thirsty but a good strong engine, where as the deisels tend to be fairly nippy with good economy, pretty much the balance, but the is one of the 2002 TDCi engines are known for having very complicated and expensive injector problems and as far as i am aware there is still no permanant...

surly there would not be enough alcohol in say mputh wash to be considered drinkin on a breath test at the police station, i personaly think the law is stupid, there should a limit which allows for the traces such as mouth wash etc but defines the difference of actualy drinking if that makes...

todays deisels are pretty much run in by 100, 000 miles and i have seen pleaty of good examples up to 200,000 but would be carefull still depending on the history of the car, petrol i would be carefull of any thing over 160,000 as long as the car has been looked after, well serviced regularly...

i apologise as i am limited on time but spotted this thread so read the first post and am now commenting, but bugger me with a fork sideways! surly every one knows that one of the basic points of engine tuning is to keep the air being fed into the engine relatively cold! he must be losing a lot...

i would choose the mondeo, not only because i and a ford fan but because the parts are cheaper, they are relativly easy to work on, very reliable unless you go for the deisel which tends to have an injector issue, plus the mondy handles exceptionaly well for a family car compared to the volvo...

i wouldnt have thought it would be the alternator, as if it wasnt working, the battery would not be charging effectivly, and would result in a flat battery, this will only effect the electrical items which run off the battery, in fact the engine can still run with out a battery connected, but...
