    Duratec V6 Camshaft question

Sorry not been on the site in ages. Theres not much you can do with the 2.5 engine and you cant use the heads from a 3.0. Personally I would get new billet cams and port the heads you have.

    Adding a turbo to a mondeo st220

Looks like the Jag rear end sits too low without major modifications to the chassis, whenever says this just bolts on we now know the truth. I'll have a play over Christmas.

    Mondeo MK3 Duratec 2,5 V6

OK I've done lots of research over the years and seen both the 3 litre and the 2.5 cams, in a nutshell no. You'll find the heads are totally different, the heads on the 3 litre was redesigned for more airflow. I've just had a new set of cams designed and made for my 3L duratec at a cost of £1k...

I left all that to the guys in the shop, but ask your nearest performance dealer and they can get them for you.

Easy, mig is a welder that the wire is fed from a spool and is more for soft steel welding unless you pay big money then you can weld aluminium as well, but tig is an all rounder but is much harder to master, tig is used to weld exhaust manifolds (headers) and things like chromium which is used...

    Adding a turbo to a mondeo st220

I've just bought a tig welder, I can mig weld but can't tig, and part of this project is to learn about things I cant do, tig welding is a must for stainless and aluminium.

    Adding a turbo to a mondeo st220

Just an update, this covid thing has put things at a almost standstill, bought a load of poly bushes for the front, had the front subframe powder coated and also bought a scrap jag for the 4x4 system, that will be here in a month. The vernier pullies have been put on hold because there's no...

    Adding a turbo to a mondeo st220

Just an update on the car, the vernier pulleys are still being tested in the race car and not ready to be produced yet, so the engines still not finished, I'll give more updates when I know more..

    Torque power weight

The jag xtype AWD is basically a MTX75 box (manual I'm going to use) with a few bits extra, it's a front wheel drive box converted to a rear drive via a transfer box then a viscous coupling transfers power to the front wheels when the rear wheels slip, its mainly 60% rear drive and you can only...

    Torque power weight

Thanks for the reply, when you think about it your right, torque is a constant that comes through the gearbox and weight has no bearing on the final torque produced by the engine. I've already researched cryo and it sounds great but not many companies do it over here, that's one thing I'm going...

    Torque power weight

Just a bit of help... I've been thinking, I've been told I can only get a certain amount of horsepower from my car due to the torque I will need, I could rip my gearbox apart, I will uprate my box but even this will not be enough and totally replacing it for a different one is not an option. My...

    Adding a turbo to a mondeo st220

Yeah vast amount, to put it in perspective I was doing 50mph round an island in the dry without coilovers and it was losing grip, same island with coilovers 70mph and didnt even twitch.

    Adding a turbo to a mondeo st220

The brakes is definitely on the list, it's got the asbo upgrade with braided hoses for now but them are being scrapped and will get a more aggressive breaking system, the suspension is already done with BC coilovers and will be adding poly bushes to everything. Thanks for the input, all...

    Adding a turbo to a mondeo st220

Right guys this is an update, the engine has been stripped and ive decided to send it to the experts to a company called Torque developments that have a mondeo race car. So far its had forged pistons, forged conrods, ported and polished, race valve springs, titanium valve caps, one way piston...

    Adding a turbo to a mondeo st220

To be honest it's only just started, i decided on this car because its never really been done, the problem is that the duratec 30 is a NA engine and any parts have to be custom designed made to fit. I'm also having to make the mondeo into a AWD because the FWD will not take 650bhp, the running...

    Adding a turbo to a mondeo st220

You would have thought so but the compression was too low on off the shelf pistons, it was better to get the compression ratio right for the application instead of making do with what's available

    Adding a turbo to a mondeo st220

    Gear shift indicator

If there's an out of the box then that would do, but is there such a type. The reason for doing this is that I need to keep the torque low in the first and second gear but the ECU won't know what gear it's in.

    Gear shift indicator

Hi guys Is there anyway to convert a non electrical H five speed changer on a front wheel drive car to give an electrical indicator of what gear your in, the gear changer that is in at the moment supplies the gearbox via cables. Or is there an after market complete gear changer unit that would...

How is your current modifying cars budget

I've ordered the rods, found some k1's in germany, but the pistons will need to be ordered specially due to the heat created. I could do with finding some oil jets from a NASCAR V8, they work great under the pistons

How is your current modifying cars budget

Ive spent 14 months researching all options and found the duratec 30 has very little in upgrades and compatability with other engines, the only people that has almost done it is noble but even they admit it' not perfect.

How is your current modifying cars budget

The eBay thread is for a 2.5L at 83mm but the ST220 is 89mm at a compression ratio of 8:5:1, I've contacted him and it's old stock.
  33. MondeoST220

How is your current modifying cars budget

You would think so, but because the duratec 30 is now over 10 years old, performance parts are no longer made, ive made teens of phone calls, theres only a few sets of k1 rods hanging about left, after that it's custom made. Wisco and all the other piston manufactures stopped making them but...

How is your current modifying cars budget

I need about 12k, but just started, just ordered forged conrods, just started to remove the engine, then it's sending a piston and conrods away to design a set of forged pistons, lots of play time coming

    ST220

The car is in the garage and its time to start a three year long project to turbo a ST220. Wish me luck guys. By the way, the car is called Ozzy da Mondeo
  36. MondeoST220

Can I fit a turbo to an ST220?

Problem is the compression ratio, a standard 220 runs about 12:1 which in no way able to put forced induction into, I'm afraid it's a total rebuild with all new internals. This is Ozzy my car that I'll be using.

    Cylinder head turbo oil feed

Thanks for that And I'll take note of the water cooled turbo, but where would you feed the oil from the cylinder head, wouldn't this starve the head of oil?
  38. MondeoST220

    Cylinder head turbo oil feed

But how does it work, is it to cool the turbo, where does it get fed from and does it pass through a rad?
  39. MondeoST220

    Cylinder head turbo oil feed

I've not got a turbo, I'll be stripping the engine down this winter to install the right internal parts for the engine to accept a turbo, I was thinking of a take off from the oil filter, but then I saw a thread from noble to say that's what they did on the engine.
