Or, I drive it and it looks perfect now. Why use an exacto knife when the brakes themselves will tidy it up? Do you bitch about everything or can you stop judging and STFU? You talk too much and know too little IMHO. I don't post about your car and it's issues, that's YOUR choice. You'd do...

Painted the calipers and hub black today. There's a before and after pic. I could not find high heat primer and so I went with no primer rather than regular primer that'd bubble. I used caliper paint for all of it. I hope the primer thing doesn't come back to bite me.

Is there any benefit getting a "performance" panel filter?

I see it at work all the time- where some kid gets a poor intake setup and doesn't understand what he's doing. Most of the intake setups I see are setup by people who have heard that the pod filter gives them 5-7 BHP (the package says that! It has to be true) and they get a generic or...

    Induction Kit Theory/Enquiry??

That's where most of the noise comes from. The BOV (well, it's actually a BPV, but sounds as loud as most BOV) noise is loud from my induction kit. The Injen intake does a much better job than the Hyundai stock kit does. I have controlled IAT and the piping is much smoother and has laminar...

Is there any benefit getting a "performance" panel filter?

I haven't heard of BiscioneRacing or pipercross so I can't comment on those, but K&N filters do filter very well- they put a lot of time and engineering into their filters.

    Daves Cooper S

Before I got the Genesis Coupe, I was on the way to look at a Mini S I had seen on the internet. The Mini was my first choice, but I got the Gen instead. The reason I wanted the Mini was because at work everyone I meet who has a Mini LOVES them. It's one of those rare cars that people just...

Is there any benefit getting a "performance" panel filter?

One problem I have read about with performance panel filters is if they are oiled and your car has a MAF sensor, the oil can foul the sensor.

I'm afraid of that too so I'll probably just go for uprated mounts. It's a fairly cheap upgrade. The extra vibration wouldn't bother me, but you're right about being bad for the car. The reading I've done has said that between 2.5" to 3" exhaust is perfect for 300 bhp turbo car. Dyno sheets...

    Induction Kit Theory/Enquiry??

I see kits like that all the time where there was no thought given to heat or design. Unless you have a plan and a purpose you're not doing much good. It's part of an entire systemwide tuning to get the most from your engine IMHO but on its own doesn't do much for performance. That's a blanket...

It's standard now, but future upgrades will take advantage of the bigger exhaust. Plus it'll give the car some extra power right away even before the future tune. The stock exhaust as it is has a huge constriction after the cat. It's horrible. Plus I want it loud. Stinger is a straight single...

This car is my first project car. I got it just a couple months ago and I'm going to build it up little by little as I can afford. As I mod it, I'll post updates here. My exhaust as it is now- going for a full 3" race exhaust soon, but here it is now: As of June 2015: Injen SRI Uniq rigid...

    Induction Kit Theory/Enquiry??

My car has fake hood "accents" (see my avatar) which are plastic and completely closed. In the stock form they do absolutely nothing except look cool. More and more manufacturers are doing this (at least in the US- the Mustang and a couple of Dodge muscle cars have fake hood scoops). I wanted...

    I wonder why

It depends on the situation. It's good to use the lane as long as possible to utilize all the road space, but bad to go until you tie up traffic forcing yourself in the merge lane at the last second because you're not paying attention. Look ahead, use the space and merge in a natural opening...

    I wonder why

Most people don't look very far ahead while they drive. They scan ahead maybe 4 or 5 car lengths and don't pay attention to what's going on the sides of the road. That's why they merge at the last second and why traffic jams happen. These sorts of morons cause others to get on the brakes and...

Rochdale death crash youth boasted of 142mph M62 drive

I've met people who do bio-scene cleanup. You either have the ability to detach and it doesn't bother you at all or you are like everyone else and you just can't do it. I think people who can do that are sociopaths of some sort and so they choose a profession where they can put that complete...

    vw sludge problems

A lot of people recommend oil catch cans for my engine, but I haven't installed them yet. They are installed inline on the PCV piping and catch sludge before it is recycled into the intake to be burned off. I'm not sure if this is a thing for the Passat, but check it out.

    Fun with super-cheap LED lighting!

It's too bad too because the interior red lighting looks awesome. It's just a glow that comes from under the dash and under the seats all the time when the car is on. The red LED map lights make my shift knob (which is marbled white) look really cool when I open the door. The grill lights...

    Fun with super-cheap LED lighting!

2013 Genesis Coupe. But you can do this with any car. So on Amazon I found some ver cheap LED lighting and picked up 4x 30 cm LED red strips (not very bright, US$6.88) , and 2x 2 waterproof LED white lighting strips (almost as bright as headlights, US$5.85 for each). You'll need a soldering...

1978 Ford Fiesta with 4 on the floor and a rubber band under the hood (Errr... bonnet) . It was a shitbox but I had fun in it. $250 and I had it maybe 2 years before the underbody rotted out and the brakes gave out. I called it "The Beast"

    super or Turbo??

Turbo charging has been around for a while in racing and it became a big deal when F1 adopted it widely in the early 80's, but then turbos kind of fell from favor in the late 80's. They are making a resurgence now because of computers. Engine management now is handled by faster modern computer...

Carbs - the good old days

Although yesterday at work I did a jumpstart for a guy with a 57 Ford Fairlane with a 350, duel glasspack exhaust and a 4 barrel carb. It sounded awesome. We started it up and just idling I hopped in the car with the guy and he revved it up a few times and that really was a fantastic sound!

Rochdale death crash youth boasted of 142mph M62 drive

I hope he gets all 6 years. He may not be dangerous, He may regret what he did but he still should pay the price. Plus the family of the person killed probably thinks that 6 years is not enough time. Doing over 140 isnt what caused the crash it was doing 80 on residential streets.

Carbs - the good old days

I don't miss the unreliability of carbs. Fuel injection (my car is GDI) is more reliable and gets more power from smaller displacement. Does oil affect performance

Cars now are very picky about motor oil, as tolerances are getting smaller with every new gen of engines. Oils have different detergents and additives too that can help to keep your engine clean and for the oil to last longer. Yes, oil is important and IMHO you should not cheap out on oil...

MPG increases after a long run

Is this momentary MPG or average over time? If it is an average, then your avg MPG will be up after running at highway constant speeds. If it's momentary MPG, I don't know why it'd be up after a trip on the highway.

I live on a road that is fun to drive on if I go north, but there's very little in the way of passing opportunities and it seems there's always one slow car with a queue of cars behind it so no one can pass in the one place where you can pass  Of course that one car always speeds up in...

    Your car tuning mistakes

This isn't so much a regret but I was surpirsed when I got a 3" test pipe to replace my 2nd cat and it DEGRADED performance.
