    Track day prep

Have another track day next week and IMO cars used mainly for hi rev hard & fast driving need more regular services that normal road cars so Have checked all the pads as it's not good to have them worn down to the metal back plates. Have flushed the brake lines and blead the lines with Motul...

Grand Cherokee - Anyone had/got one?

With all of the people in Australia claiming to be or have a First Nations genetic history I think that they are just getting on the gravy train ( $$$$) including many that are a lighter shade of white than me have as much credibility as me claiming to be a native American if I was conceived in...

I also have his life story book as well and it is also a good read. I also had a small driving book by Frank Gardiner as well but whoever I lent it to has never returned it, To me "advanced" driving is a step below "performance" driving. So will be interested in whatever you come up with.

When should one retire from motorsport ?

Definitely have the SS braided lines for better pedal feel. I have blead and flushed the fluid lines from RBF600 deg fluid and upgraded to Motul RBF 700 deg fluid and did discover some air bubbles when I was doing it as overheating the fluid can cause air bubbles to appear so I will be bleeding...

    Audi S3 8L 2003 brake issue

The generally accepted brake bleeding method is to start with the longest line (rear passenger side) and work thru to the shortest (front driver side) BUT make sure you check the reservoir and keep it topped up so it doesn't get too low. If you have multi piston calipers bleed the inner side...

    How much power EA111 handle

IMO if you are intending to increase the power of a turbo powered vehicle then you must do as much research as you can before adding more boost as that can dramatically increase the dynamic compression rate. IF you want a trouble free experience then forged pistons and rods is the way to go...

    EA111 Upgrade injectors?

IMO the existing injectors need to be cleaned and flow tested and then get a base line tune on a dyno to find out the % of they are flowing @ WOT and it should be no more than 85% IF it is close to that and you intend to wind up the boost pressure then higher flowing injectors is the first thing...

When should one retire from motorsport ?

I am looking forward to being able to have another year enjoying driving my FN2 at track days and closed road events even though many would say that at my age I should be playing bowls or bingo like so many around my age. My K 24 powered Lotus 23

I am a late convert to a Honda CTR but came from many years of turbo RWD and I know it's a bit late BUT I would never contemplated pumping 38 psi into a stock bottom end and expect it to last without upgrading to forged rods and pistons . The Honda K series is also an open deck and IMO needs a...

    Wheel sizes

Don't know if changing wheel diameter and fitting higher aspect tyres to help soften the ride to keep the rolling diameter the same will cause any lights to show on the dash but I would enquire at a dealership OR do a basic google search before making any change from stock. PS don't forget to...

TCJB's new front track day tyres

I had them recommended to me by a specialist brake supplier and was pleased with their consistent level of grip / bite from cold as well as many hot laps on the track. They are not a sudden grabby pad and are easy to modulate hot or cold and have little dust. I have not noticed any deterioration...

TCJB's new front track day tyres

Am on a tight budget so can't afford or justify buying the track day favorite Yokohama's so thought that I would try the Sailun RO1 semi slicks that are a very close tread design as the previous Yokohama semi slick and was impressed with their grip that remained constant over the 20 minute...

    FMIC

Help on tuning Honda L15BE Turbo engine

WOT = Wide Open Throttle or foot flat on the floor or pedal to the metal. DC = Duty Cycle of the injectors. For example if you have say 1000cc injectors that is how much fuel CLEAN injectors will flow @ WOT so for safety it is generally considered that the maximum amount that a 1000cc...

Help on tuning Honda L15BE Turbo engine

Hello and welcome |B I raced a turbo car for 20 plus years in club events and from experience learned a few things. 1 The injector WOT maximum DC should ideally be around 80% 2 DO NOT set the tune for max power as it will be on the verge of detonation. Set it for RELIABILITY in all...
