How much more power will you have next year

Hi Steve Indeed. We are way behind schedule, just had the planning meeting on Friday. Identified a fair bit of weight loss, looking to simplify and tidy wiring by rewiring the whole car, considering options for a new ECU CDi and coil on plug setup, possibly tubular subframes if we have time...

How much more power will you have next year

Lol. Here's the video when running 995hp. I was up against Brent in his silver Skyline which has 1100hp. You can hear me spinning all 4 wheels right through 2nd.

How much more power will you have next year

Although we dyno'd 1096 hp last year (not maxed out), the most I got to run at the track was 995hp. That was on the old 3.5L stroker. Just building a new 4.0L stroker and wonder if we we get to see 1250hp, Owen developed these turbos to do 1200 on the old motor. I might look to some with...

Drag racing techniques and car setup

Thanks, not far away from finding out. New fuel pump as mine has died, new rear lower control arms, new powered steering pump and the engine / gearbox are good to get fitted. Already mapped to 1095 hp (not fully maxed) so just tweaking then off to the track.

Drag racing techniques and car setup

OG, I just got the car back after most of my season has been missed. We are trying to see if we can get it together to run this weekend. It has been claimed (tbc on a weighbridge) that 140 kg was saved. We had the engine on an engine dyno but the operator didn't tighten his intercooler pipes...

mitsubishi gto engine rebuild or engine swap

Hi, it depends what you want. Are you going to continue running stock or say up to 450 hp, if so I would say swap. If you are going to go for power, take the opportunity to build a forged engine

We had a Tilton clutch flow control valve in there! I have had smaller inserts made for it now and will also be fitting a variable control as well. Great minds lol. André

    Parachutes

8' square should be fine for your weight and trap I would have thought. Afterall a chute is not there to bring you to a standstill but to assist you braking system. I would have thought the right pad compound for your steel rotors is probably more important than the chute itself. André

Drag racing techniques and car setup

It is a little OCD isn't it LOL. Shooting for 1000bhp/tonne ultimately but the real driver for the weight reduction is to lower the moment of inertia and give the transmission a little bit on an easier time. Too many of these.

Drag racing techniques and car setup

Thanks for the compliment. OG I take your point, I can only add my personal experience which is by lifting off gently and smoothly and applying the brakes in the same way, I have never had the car become unstable even in winds exceeding 20 mph!. I just commented on your 'chute post too. Yes...

    Parachutes

Using the formula quoted on Jegs (weight in lbs x trap speed divided by 1000) yields a 2 digit number, your max trap would yield 257 odd. The chutes are rated and you pick one with the appropriate rating. I know you quoted some spec on your callipers but not much info on the brake system...

Drag racing techniques and car setup

This would be a VERY difficult guide to write and get right from the first draft. Something that is not mentioned is weight transfer / preservation. By that I mean a RWD or AWD based on a RWD layout requires a good amount of weight transfer to get good traction off the line. Conversely a FWD...

Nice car and I love how the torque comes in so early. Best colour too! :blink1: T9man, he's right, there are so many things going on in such a small amount of time it really isn't as easy as it seems. At Japshow Finale, one of our guys was pushing 416 BHP (dyno dynamics) and was running...

Wglcome to the club. Sorry I'm a bit late to the party but maybe I can help having owned one of my GTOs for 10 years. Btw, it is currently the most powerful, quickest and fastest in Europe. As you have a 91 TT it is most likely sporting the 2 bolt main block which has the cast crank as...

    Fuel coolers

How much?!! I only paid $1800 to have a single full length prop custom made with 1350 yokes instead of the 1310 yokes that are only rated to 800 ftlbs. What's more they'll do an 'all eventualities' lifetime insurance for another $100 or so. the unsprung weight will be lost via zero drag...

    Fuel coolers

My air intake temperatures are down around 43 degrees anyway. For the future I plan on running a dry ice charge cooler as well as the FMIC at the track. The charge cooler I am looking at has been known to produce charge temperatures as low as -70 degrees! This year I ran -8 to 2 x -6 with...

    Fuel coolers

I am looking at all sorts of weight reduction areas with my white car for next season, one of which is running a LARGE external fuel pump and interchangeable fuel cells with dry break connectors. The idea being that for the track I can easily swap to a 10L race fuel cell. Plumbing will be...

Street legal 33gtr runs 8.82 at the pod

Street legal 33gtr runs 8.82 at the pod

Jeff runs with me in the Jap Drag Series Street class. He uses the same tyres as me too which are Mickey Thompson ET Streets in a 26/11.50/17 although he might be on 16" rims. So technically a DOT marked street tyre but not E marked and therefore not UK street legal. André

    td04 turbo change

I don't know what your budget is but Dynamic Racing do a TD04 turbo called the DR750R. We use them on the Mitsubishi GTO / 3000GT and they make serious power and torque! They wipe the floor with 19T's in our cars. My own car made 631 BHP and 705 ftlbs at 32 psi of boost on a totally stock...

I have had a Mitsubishi GTO twin turbo since 2003. It stayed stock for the first 2 years of ownership, then I wanted 500 hp, so set about getting it. Got a best hp of 535 and a best torque figure of 610 ftlbs. (All of my dyno runs are done on Dyno Dynamics rollers). A week later I did my...
