    Intercooling

I've taken a look at a couple of videos on youtube- looks pretty simple. Since the current plumbing is 2.5" I'll stick to that for simplicity and reversibility. Are the universal ones on eBay anygood?

    Ignition Timing

I'm not actually in the correct country to look under the bonnet at the very second- but the existence of a knock-sensor and might have something to do with that then xD haha

    Ignition Timing

My engine is a PSA XU10J2TE (XU10J2CTE) and I have been reading about the theories behind ignition timing, how to work out the arc and therefore the distance (effectively) you'd have to turn the distributor cap to advance the timing to get complete combustion up higher in the rev range and am...

    Intercooling

The space is going to be fun... On the plus- I've already combated a lot of the spool up time so far- by using a boost controller- as by default the waste-gate actuator starts creeping open REALLY early- now it's nicely cemented in place keeping in the boost. The turbo is quite small (Garrett...

    Intercooling

I have a Peugeot 406 (D8) with a 2 litre 8 valve turbocharged engine. It's currently tuned for torque (the engine code is XU10J2CTE where CT = Constant Torque) and produces 200lbft torque from new and ~150hp. I bought this car with issues a while ago and have since managed to repair them...

    Advanced driving qualifications.

Insurers- Do they REALLY need to know?

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/7511157/Driver-crashes-528000-supercar.html LOL! Proof :)

    405 pics

Correct ;) the only thing wrong with the 405- is they're all a little under-powered and have to adapt to soft suspension in a saloon- lift off over-steer in the wet on substantial non-traffic light roundabouts is an experience ;)

    Which Variant?

Cheers for clearing that one up mate! doubt I'll afford anything that new anyway ;) haha

Insurers- Do they REALLY need to know?

I was mulling over in my mind after speaking to a few friends about the matter- do people actually insure mods these days? I know people that have written their cars off with mods as extensive as added FMICs, upgraded engine interns, lowered suspension, spoilers, straight-through pipes, Re-maps...

    405 pics

I did quite a lot of reading into it- The body's actually nothing like the RC I don't think- I know that's certainly the case with the 205 t16. Here's my one of my all time youtube favourite videos... ever: http://www.arivatanenrally.com/en/cars/peugeot-405-t16-pikes-peak.html I drive a 405-...

    Which Variant?

Thanks a lot for that info mate- I'll make sure to remember that and brilliant- I just wanted to be sure it wasn't anything more than skin deep bits- so i'll disregard that as an issue now ;D

An Appeal For Knowledge Regarding Cheap Diesels!

Well- my current position is- I'll do the mods- if the clutch starts slipping then replace it with a better one- there's no point in upgrading it and throwing the old one out if it doesn't fail right? ;)
  19. H

    Which Variant?

Yea saw them up there on special offer! just what I guess I'll be looking for when Bora time comes round- but suspension will be one of the last things that i bother upgrading I think that even though diesels aren't particuarly air hungry- it's only going to mean cooler perhaps less turbulent...

An Appeal For Knowledge Regarding Cheap Diesels!

So I'm guessing you mean a 130/150bhp DMF clutch like this one from sachs? or did you mean some sort of performance range...
  21. H

    Which Variant?

Well you reckon you can have a £125 remap arranged- I first need to decide on a spec and save up I guess!- I'll be putting a milltek resonated exhaust on- and a de-cat. not sure about getting a BMC enclosed induction unit at all... I know that diesels are bottle necked by fuel not air like a...

An Appeal For Knowledge Regarding Cheap Diesels!

With a re-map and a couple of bits and pieces- it will come up to about 300... what would you say about the flywheel? convert to a solid one? since I'm aware dual-mass flywheels aren't that reliable and bloody expensive? and H4 bulbs- £20 for a pair aint too shabby... I'll just have to hope...

An Appeal For Knowledge Regarding Cheap Diesels!

I've just got quotes now- 02 plate 406 2.2 HDi 136 GTX- Third Party Fire & Theft = £2387.97 Comprehensive = £2657.60 + £800 excess And I didn't change any of the variables that I used to get a quote for £1600ish on a 130PS Bora- the stats are IDENTICAL- there's a hp difference of 5, 0-60 time...
  24. H

    Which Variant?

I'm looking at getting a Bora 130PD- mainly going to be for driving enjoyment- for instance I plan on remapping, replacing exhaust & intake and putting TT alloys on (perhaps)- which of the variants of the 130 tdi should I look at buying? It seems like a lot of the features are optional extras...

    Speeding!

What you say about the overtaking goes without saying- and I will stray if I'm vary aware of conditions, know the road, and am alone- the unwritten rule I believe. Correct- you wouldn't bother with any intellectual banter such as this if you were an air-head!
  26. H

    Speeding!

Don't get me wrong- I don't actually speed anymore and I'm all up for people driving at the speed limit- after all the speed limits are for a reason- and like you said, there are people with inflated and twisted realities that are blissfully unaware that they're not God- but I have experienced...

An Appeal For Knowledge Regarding Cheap Diesels!

Yea man- I had a quick look at the mods for the Mk4 VAG 130pd engine- there's all sorts of kit and info about tuning them about- seems like quite a wolf in sheep's clothing! I knew that Volkswagen over-engineered the engines- but I've seen 100 extra horse power out of these engines on the web...

An Appeal For Knowledge Regarding Cheap Diesels!

Cheers for the welcomes guys ;) I just ran the insurance sites- the xsara (110hp), 306 (90hp) and Bora (130hp) all come back nearly identical... bit of a no brainer? I've just seen on the AMD Essex site that you can also bump the Bora 130 up to 170 for only £400... surely that pushes it...
  29. H

    Speeding!

I did quite a bit of reading into speeding back when I thought I'd been caught- just to know what to prepare for- I ended up finding out that as long as you're a social engineer and it's a sunny day- the copper at the side of the road is full off s**t and you can usually respond confidently with...

An Appeal For Knowledge Regarding Cheap Diesels!

I'm looking to make the big change-over (ha!) from petrol to diesel, my main issue- is from driving my friend's cars (New mini 1.6 td, Audi A5 coupe 3.0tdi, peugeot 306 hdi [remapped], peugeot 309 1.8td) - I've found that I love the accessible torque you get from turbo diesels- and I want in...
