    What's your lowest MPG reading

As a contrast (and bit of a tangent) to my last post, on those same driving roads my curernt Golf returns 600+ MPG from its 60lt tank and I can't see I'm getting to my destination any quicker in most cases but it is more boring sound and involvement wise
  4. Aerial Andy944

    What's your lowest MPG reading

My old R33 GTR could empty it's 60lt tank of super unleaded in 150 miles so that works out to about 11MPG  That's just on normal driving roads so goodness knows what it would of done on the track (8})

That's why they have clients from all over the world. They're a friendly knowledge group there when I've spoken with them. I'm...

Remap Options for V6 TDI 272 - Help Please!

Hi, just thought I'd weigh in on the thread. I've had a few cars mapped now and dyno custom tune is the way to go for proper job. More expensive then a generic map but works with condition of your engine you have and any mods. For VW group mapping and mods Darkside Developments are the guru's to...

    2011 2.2 mondeo juddering

Hi and welcome to TC forums. @Lunchmoney makes a good point to check. I had similar problem on my Skyline. O2 sensors were stuck at a certain voltage and wouldn't go past certain engine speeds or throttle positions. I had to lift off then feather the throttle. My mechanic put a voltage meter on...

    Engine Carbon Clean. Worth it?

I've always put a bottle of BG244 or Archoil6400 additive in my Golf every year and felt this was sufficient for the miles I do which is about 4k - 5k a year. Is a carbon engine clean that much better and how so? Just curious as going to be giving the old girl a pamper after 14 years and 66k...

Will toe out always improve cornering

Nicely put. There is no perfect setup for a road car. Racing cars will have a different setup for each individual track they go to and still it will be the best compromise to get around the track quickest so a road car has to have a much larger window of operation to work in to stay safe...

    Negative camber

Stances cars are a look, not a performance gain. From what I remember when I had my high performance cars the camber setting comes into effect when cornering at high speed as the car will lean onto the edge of the tyre if there was no camber. There's lots of factors in determining what the...

Which of your sold cars do you miss the most

@TCJBOLDIE I think the suspension was least of the problems  Still it got me to college and back each day the year I had it. I saw the Prelude arrive on the garage forecourt that was opposite a shop I was working in. It arrived Monday morning and I was driving it home Friday night

Which of your sold cars do you miss the most

1983 mk2 Honda Prelude EX 1st model they did with the pop up headlights. My second car I bought when I was 19 and a massive step up from my 1st car, a Morris Marina. 1.8 twin carb with only 107HP but it was very light at only around 900kg. Had a very rare body kit (so I've been told) and had a...

    Rare cars on our streets

Been here a while by looks of it @Lunchmoney, DVLA says 2005 registered and as a normal 2.5lt engine model so why the GTR badge o_O Wonder if it's had anything else done to it apart from Nismo spoiler endcaps, side skirts and fat exhaust? Haven't seen a "standard" Skyline yet

    What's the best 0-60 time for £1500

My Chloe whose 19 has just passed her test. We got her a 2007 Clio Dynamic 1.4 from a family friend, 30000 miles and immaculate. For a 90hp 1.4 engine top of the range car she is paying £540 Full comp insurance through Hastings which I thought was pretty good. We do have a garage and live in the...

What's the biggest engine you've ever owned

Biggest capacity was a 2.8 V6 lump in my old 1986 Lancia Thema. It was actually a Volvo engine with a measly 170hp but lots of low end torque gave a satisfying push. Biggest power was my R33 Skyline with a 2.6 straight 6 this time with 2 turbos. A few breathing mods let it make 380hp on the...

What qualifies as a classic car?

Age is a big factor. Footman James insurance guy told me at a show once it starts around 10 years old but the model is also a big factor in this. My Skyline is a good example. They would insure my GTR as a classic but the GTST models they wouldn't. Seems you need to have the right model to be...

    What's the best 0-60 time for £1500

Mazda RX8s ;) 230hp sub 6 second. Plenty around for less then a grand if you can live with repair costs. Lexus GS350 or I even found a GS430 with the 4.3lt V8 for £1595 at dealer. May be able to talk him down to £1500. Again 6 second luxury car

Have you ever been a victim of car crime

Not had any trouble since we've moved to countryside but in my early 20s when I lived in Poole and would be out most weekends my Citroen AX GT seemed to be broken into every time I returned. In all fairness you could open one of those with a key or a spoon or a lollipop stick even...

    I Need a De-Cat

Have a feeling they're different. Certainly the diesel 140 and 170 versions are. Removing CAT anyways is illegal and has been for many years. The new MOT test that came out in May will pick it up and fail it straight away unless you're thinking of getting a swappable CAT/DECAT section or you're...

Ahh 19 years ago we did that mod. That was the strangest journey ever. Walking out the hospital looking at each other going "are we allowed to just walk out, with this lil human, what us!!" Slowest journey home ever taken also  By the second child though it was chuck in, get home for a...

What's the next job on your car going to be

I went to open bonnet on my Golf and the cable release snapped. You can manually get in by unscrewing the badge in front grill where behind it there are 2 retaining screws to hold lock in place. Undo those and whole lock mechanism comes up with the bonnet lid. Found front section of cable was...

    Hello There

Hi and welcome to the TC forums. As LM says changing the breathing, intake and exhaust, could release a few horses and make throttle response quicker. Don't know if changing the ignition will work on that engine but on my RB26 changing the coil packs, sparks and HT leads gave more power at top...

That sounds awesome. Keep in mind some of the JDM V8s just to have a bit of continuity and individuality. Lexus V8s are good and can take turbocharging really well ;b/
